Friday Weigh In has Changed!

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

It’s Friday and I know I am supposed to weigh in today, BUT I started the Slim Fast Diet on Monday and weighed in on that day, so I am changing my weigh in day to Monday.  It’s almost one week and get this…I still like it!

I actually feel way better lately!  It’s only been 5 days as of today and I have energy and I already lost that nasty “overeater feeling” I had a couple weeks ago.   I don’t know if I’ve lost anything yet, but I have lost the urge to binge like I had been!  I think the Last Supper Party we had did the trick.  All that food for 2 days, considering the leftovers, was enough to make me get my fill of it…literally.

So if you want to see if I have lost anything on one week of the Slim Fast Challenge, then come back on Monday!

And I want to thank homemaker for her support!  I really appreciate it!  It helps to know someone is following, it makes me feel more accountable!  I am seriously going to do it this time!  I am tired of feeling fat and frumpy!  I know you can do it too!  It’s Time For Us!

So what have I been eating?

Honestly, I haven’t been eating too much but it feels nice in contrast to the past few weeks of constantly eating out or having little gatherings with other foodies.

I have been having coffee in the morning most mornings, then a shake once I start feeling hungry.  When I feed my daughter, I have a little of what she’s having.  Yesterday it was an English muffin with egg.  BTW…English Muffins ROCK!  Only 120 calories, 1 gram of fat, and one gram of fiber!  Totally worth it, considering that one slice of wheat bread could be up to 90 calories.  The egg muffin felt satisfying.

I had a shake for lunch.  Since you’re supposed to replace breakfast with a shake then you’re supposed to have a small lunch with your lunchtime shake.  The day before yesterday I had an awesome salad…yesterday, since I ate breakfast, I skipped lunch and just had the shake and then I left to run errands.  It kept me content for a long while.  When I did feel hungry, about 4 hours or so later, I ate one of the Slim Fast snack bars.  It did the trick, got me through grocery shopping and home.  Then I ate some roasted chicken for dinner with veggies.

Shake, small lunch + shake, sensible dinner (plus snacks anywhere in between.  I’ve been doing grapes, kiwi fruit, Ritz crackers, handfuls of Kix cereal, the slim fast snack bars, weight watcher snack cakes)

Bye for now!!

The Slim Fast Challenge-Day 1 and 2

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

I didn’t get to post yesterday cause my internet was down!  BOOO!

So Day 1 went really well.  I weighed myself yesterday and I am WAY up!  I weighed in at 203!!  WTH!  So I had my shake for breakfast, it was Cappaccino Delight…it was alright, but I don’t think it was cold enough.  I had one for lunch that I put in the freezer for about 10 minutes and it was way better.  I also had grapes and a tangerine for snacks, a small can of soup for lunch with my shake, and I had a few small slices of a roast with potatoes and veggies for dinner.

Today I did well all day too but we went out to buy our Christmas tree and my husband wanted to have sushi for dinner…not a bad choice but the kind of rolls I like aren’t the healthiest.  But I think I did ok.  I only ate half my plate and brought the rest home. And I had the milk chocolate shake today for lunch, after sticking it in the freezer, and it was awesome!  Very tasty!

I feel a little hungry right now, but I’m too lazy to get up so that’s a good thing.  I also need to increase my water intake.  I’m usually excellent when it comes to drinking water but for some reason, lately I have been lagging.

Anyway, here is my update and we’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Slim Fast has impressed me…so far…

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

Ok, so I have to admit it!  The website for Sim Fast impressed me.

I was thinking about trying Slim Fast to help get a jump start on my diet, right?  So I remembered that I had registered for their site several months back in order to get a free pedometer.  I went to the website on Friday and got kind of sucked in!

There’s a bit of a “learning curve” with it, but if you take the time and go through all of their features, it’s pretty neat!  I really liked it!

You can set it up with your information and track your weight each week, you can keep track of your water intake, calorie intake, and there’s a meal plan area which helps you plan out what you will eat for the day with meal suggestions and recipes.  You can also set up an excerise plan on the site, figure out your bmi and there are motivational downloads to help you.  Once registered, you can also use the community forum to chat with other people using the Sim Fast diet, or ask questions to slim fast reps and dieticians.  Slim Fast also offers a 1-800 number  customers can call for support or help.

What caught my attention is that the site is free.  There’s a lot of information and tools on it that I know I can benefit from.  I used to pay a pretty high monthly fee in order to have features like this on the Weight Watchers website.  I even had to pay for the online portion when I was attending and paying for meetings.

So far, Slim Fast has been impressing me.  I actually went out and bought some this weekend, so I can start on Monday!!  I even talked to my hubby who is now completely on board!  We were walking through Costco and saw scales, so we started talking about getting a new one cause ours sucks.  So he stepped on one, and stared at the number.  Got off of it and steps on the next one, which was like a pound higher, then says…they’re probably not calibrated!  lol  Umm…no, you just weigh more than you thought!

Anyway, he agreed that we will start Monday, and he likes the fact that we’re starting with something gimmicky, like Slim Fast.  I think it will help us stick to it, for the beginning at least.

I’ll be back tomorrow to let you know how the first day went!

Food Coma

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

So where have I been?

Recovering.  That’s where.

We had my friends last feast.  It was impressive.  We did without a couple things, but we had way more than we needed.  Everything was wonderful.  I ate all weekend long and now I don’t really want to eat a lot anymore.  We’ve been eating out of necessity the past few days.  Today I’m making dinner.

BBQ Chicken, zucchini, artichokes and salad.

I’m going to try an experiment.  I’m not one for quick fix diet schemes or anything.  I believe that all you have to do to lose weight is eat less, eat better and excercise.  Doing it is the problem.  But I am just absolutely sick of looking the way I do at the moment, and I need a jump start.

I am going to do the Slim Fast Challenge! lol

I bought a two week supply today.  I think I may start tonight, or I might wait till Monday.

I figured that one of my biggest problems is that I’m not eating breakfast, eating crap for lunch-if I eat lunch at all, then way overdoing it for dinner.  So I figure if I drink a shake for breakfast, and one for lunch, then have a “sensible dinner” then I should at the very least lose a few pounds, then get motivated to really do it.

We shall see!

I will start posting my new challenge as soon as it begins.

The ad says you can lose 6 pounds in two weeks.  I’ll be aiming for 10!

By the way…my Superman Cake came out great!

It’s Friday! Yippee.

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

199.  That’s all I have to say for today.  Yup, I’ve gained, but its only to be expected.  I haven’t been trying.  I haven’t been conscious about anything.  And all I’ve been thinking about is food.  In fact, I’m baking a cake right now!  It smells delicious!

This weekend we are having our final eat fest.  We have dubbed it, The Last Supper Party.  It will be fun!  We have a ridiculous menu planned.  I don’t even know how much of it we will actually go through with but so far…here’s the list:

Hot wings, devilled eggs, fried zuchinni

Chicken Enchiladas, BBQ Hot Dogs, Pulled Pork, Tri Tip (Famous Dave’s)

Potato Salad, BBQ Pork Fried Rice, BBQ Beans (Famous Dave’s), Mac & Cheese

Superman Cake

Hummingbirds, beer, wine, soda

Ridiculous?  YES!  Delicious?  Of Course!

All will be homemade except for the fried rice, pork, tri tip and beans.

I’ll let you know what happens.

What’s cooking?!

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

So we’re trying to hone the menu for this weekend.  I need to bake a cake.  I haven’t even begun to think about what kind I’m making or how I’m decorating it.  I’m kind of irritated with myself because I had originally planned to do the Superman symbol in royal icing for him…kind of like a plaque.  But it takes like 4 days to dry.  Also, I think Wilton discontinued the Superman cake pan…so I have to go to Micheals to check it out.

My friend, who’s having the bypass, came over today and I was asking him what he wanted to eat this weekend.  I couldn’t believe how disgustingly excited I was!  We were joking that I was more excited than he is!  It’s not like I’m never going to be able to eat a full meal again!  But maybe it’s kind of my last huge meal too.  Maybe I’m using this weekend as my last splurge as well.  Hmmm….something to think about!

Also, I had a drs appt today that I forgot about until 2 hours before…of course I had time to get ready and get there…but what did I do?  I spend 10 minutes on the phone, cancelling it.  The next available was January 28th!  I took it.  The appt was a follow up visit since at my last appt my blood pressure was high, and my blood work came back showing borderline high cholesterol!  So I wasn’t in the mood to have that dicsussion today.  Maybe I will be in January.

Bypass

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

So my bff’s husband, who is also a great friend is undergoing gastric bypass surgery.  He’s scheduled for Dec 29!  He went in for his final appointment today and they ordered a bunch of tests and basically told him what to expect.  They also told him to start a liquid diet now and stay on it till, obviously after the surgery.  They told him it was optional but that most people feel better after surgery when they’ve done the liquid diet beforehand.  I guess it makes sense.  It would suck to go cold turkey…mmm…turkey!  (bad joke)  But it’s supposed to get your body kind of used to it.  Also they want him to lose as much weight as he can before surgery.  I don’t know if I’m explaining this right but they said that your liver is fatty.  So when you lose weight rapidly, your liver shrinks.  If his liver shrinks enough, then they can do the bypass laproscopically, if not, then they will have to do the traditional surgery when they open you up.

He’s nervous, excited, happy, anxious…all of the above!  So is his wife, my bff, once he’s done, she’s next!  Major life changes!  By no means an easy decision.  They are both young (her 30 and him under 30) and they both have major health problems which led them to the decision.

They both have about 200lbs to lose.  That makes my 50 seem like nothing!

But I will totally be supporting them.  I have to, my eating buddies are no more!

But we will have one last fling!  We are having a Last Supper party this weekend!  We are making everything he wants, everything he will miss and everything that he won’t be able to have again!  I am going to have to sacrifice and eat right along with him this weekend!  lol

So now the menu planning is in full effect.  After this weekend, I probably won’t want to eat ever again! lol RIGHT!  But I’m sure I will completely over do it, which in some ways is good.  Maybe it will help.

I’ll let you know tomorrow what’s on the menu!

Hiding Out

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

So I guess I’ve been hiding from the world lately.  I did weigh in after the holidaze and I did find my lost pound, who came back with a buddy.  I haven’t been in the mood to do anything lately, so I will start back fresh this coming Friday.  Like I said before, if you mess up, just start right back up again and keep going.  That’s what I’ve been trying to do.

So as of today I am going to start writing everyday and I’m going to stick with it this time!  I think I got a little blue for a few days but it’s time to send that packing and get a grip on my attitude.

My hubby has been kind of “anti-everything” lately.  He was my buzz kill this past week.  He keep pushing back our deadline.  I wanted to start officially dieting in January.  Now he’s saying after January 17th, which is his b-day!  Then what?  We’ll have to wait till after Valentine’s Day?  Then St Patrick’s Day?  Oh, then Easter is just around the corner!  NOPE!  I’m doing this with out without him!

I got my butt moving today and cleaned the house.  It felt good.  I’ve been very lazy lately.  Now I need to break out the DDR and really get moving!

Ok…new goal…DDR by the end of the week!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

I haven’t been here since last Friday.  Since I lost one pound.  I think I have since gained 3.  I don’t know.  I haven’t weighed but it feels this way.  What will be very interesting is the fact that I am going to weigh in the Friday after Thanksgiving.  Black Friday indeed.  I’m curious to see how much I will gain!

Either way, it will just give me more to lose.  It’s getting closer to January.  We’re making our way through the holidays.  It’s almost time.

So in honor of Thanksgiving, I’m going to think about the things I am thankful for!

I am thankful for my life.

I am thankful for my baby.

I am thankful for my husband.

I am thankful for my home.

I am thankful for the food I have, even though I overeat.

I am thankful for the rest of my family.

I am thankful that I’m happy even though I’m fat.

I am thankful to have options.

I am just thankful!

It’s Friday’s Weigh In!!

Published by agngg under Uncategorized Edit This

Today is Friday and it’s my second weigh in.  The first was done last Friday just to see where I was at so today is the first “check-in” to see if I am keeping my goal of maintaining through the holidays.

If you’re not sure what I’m doing, check out my first post at the bottom of the page, it clears it up a bit.  But, since the holidays are quickly approaching, I thought it’d be silly for me to start dieting now.  So I am trying not to gain and will actively being dieting in January. However, I will weigh myself every Friday just to keep myself in check!

Now that you’re all caught up…let me go weight myself!  Be Right Back!!

197lbs!!!!!!!  Wow I lost ONE pound!  I did not expect that!

See what positive thinking can do…or at least being conscious!  Wink

Last Friday I was 198…today 197…One pound down…49 to go!!!!

I CAN DO THIS!
